Giga Groovy Games
After a bit of a hiatus, we've decide that this Saturday (Sept 7th), it’s a Pico-8 Party. 8 + 1 new games, each one a world of its own. Different genres. Different creators. All born from the hands of those who work, who grind, who live outside the glow of investor meetings and corporate kickbacks. No million-dollar marketing schemes, no focus groups. Just games.
Why do we love the Pico-8? At HOUDINI, we celebrate the underdog. Games made by people with day jobs, with bills to pay, who find time—somehow—to make art despite it all. The Pico-8 gives them that chance. A simple engine, accessible, with a ceiling low enough to touch but high enough to climb. No doubt, the developers of these games struggled—financially, personally—because that’s what the system demands. Yet, out of the grind, out of the drudgery of wage slavery, these games have been forged. Gems of the proletariat, made under pressure.
You can play them now, dive into these digital treasures, and maybe—just maybe—find a little solace from the same grind that shaped them. These are the jewels we hold dear at HOUDINI, the ones we fill our box with. It’s our culture, our way.
