HOUDINI is the brainchild of Erik Houdini and a faceless army of working class—writers, artists, musicians, environmental scientists, producers, first responders, film makers, journalists, clerks, taggers, goths, 'reformed' felons, juggalos, janitors, freaks, radicals, truckers, addicts, activists, schemers, plotters, connivers, swashbucklers, dastardly dudes, femme fatales, them fatales, and whoever else decided that today was the day we start giving a damn. We're the nobodies, the invisibles.
Well over half a million total visitors. The big dogs of the underground. HOUDINI exists to reclaim counterculture from the branded dead. Anti-corpo, broke as fuck, grindset bros who read Marx. Chaos magicians who dog-ear Kropotkin. Real, human, DIY, underground counterculture.
We are the spear point rupturing sellout culture. We are the hauntological remains of communities long lost.
We publish what the corpos won't touch—hard-hitting essays, dirt-under-the-nails journalism, political polemics, experimental zines, art galleries, underground music, and games. From subcultural history to anti-capitalist breakdowns, DIY scenes to psychic warfare.
We are HOUDINI. And we're making the miracle escape from a commodified culture—one story beat, one zine, one essay, one frontman ranting about imperialism at a basement beatdown show at a time.
We believe a true counterculture, should it be forged, must be anti-capitalist. It must be anti-algorithmic. We must break through the prison walls of capital's psychic warfare on our souls and into a new era.
This is the miracle escape.
This is HOUDINI—a new counterculture in a land of cowards.
Remember: No doomers. Uplift. Struggle.

HOUDINI is more than a magazine—it's a space to nurture revolutionary ideas and redistribute resources to those who need them most. This has never been (and will never be) about personal profit. Our mission is simple: build infrastructure for artists, writers, and creatives fighting against late-stage capitalism.
It's not about the money—it's about the movement.
It's not about the money—it's about the message.
We believe in action over labels. You can call yourself a radical, but if your work, your money, and your choices don't reflect that, what are you really contributing to the movement? At HOUDINI, we're committed to aligning our practice with our principles—because a better world isn't just something we talk about. It's something we build, together.
Launched July 2025, the Gaslight [chronicles] is our pulp imprint. Crime, horror, splatterpunk, grimdark, vampires, sci-fi and anything that leaves a chill down your spine. The next Robert E. Howard walks among us, we want to publish him.
